Lori Moonen

Lori Moonen studied Biomedical Sciences and completed both the Bachelor’s and Master’s of Biomedical Sciences at Maastricht University. In 2025, she graduated after completing her internship at the research department of hematology of the Central Diagnostic Laboratory (CDL) at Maastriccht UMC+. During her internship, she became familiar with the Maastricht Flowchamber and wrote her thesis on bleeding mechanisms in patients with Bleeding Disorder of Unknown Cause (BDUC).

After completing her internship, she had the opportunity to continue working on projects with the Flowchamber as a research analyst at the CDL. She is very excited to continue developing her expertise in this position.

Currently, she mainly works on projects involving the Maastricht Flowchamber. She performs Flowchamber measurements for patients with an unexplained bleeding tendency, such as patients with BDUC. In addition, She is involved in a collaboration between FHML, Maastricht UMC+, and a pharmaceutical company, in which they use the Flowchamber to investigate the effects of pro-hemostatic drugs.
