Lecture Professor Zoltan Ungvari - October 9, 2018
On October 9, 2018, Professor Zoltan Ungvari, MD Phd. from the University of Oklahoma, will give a lecture at CARIM.
Location: Co Greep zaal, 5th floor Uns60.
Title: 'Obesity in aging: microvascular mechanisms of cognitive decline'
Prof. Ungvari holds the Donald W Reynolds Chair of Aging Research at the center on aging at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center.
His research interests include Cardiovascular Aging, Vascular Biology, Free Radical Biology and Comparative Biology of Aging. One of the current research areas is focused on the molecular biology of cardiovascular aging: studying vascular physiology and cell biology with an emphasis on oxidative stress and inflammation. The aim is to understand the mechanisms underlying age-related deterioration of vascular and cardiac function and identify novel therapeutic targets to delay/prevent the deleterious effects of cardiovascular aging (mitochondrial biogenesis, mitochondrial oxidative stress, NADPH oxidase-dependent signaling, pro-inflammatory mechanisms, GH/IGF-1 system, etc).
