Suzan Wetzels

Post doc

Dr Suzan Wetzels graduated from Maastricht University with a specialisation in Cardiovascular Biology and Medicine. During her PhD, she investigated the role of advanced glycation endproducts in multiple sclerosis. This research was conducted at the Department of Internal Medicine at Maastricht University under the supervision of Prof. Casper Schalkwijk and Dr Kristiaan Wouters and at the Department of Immunology and Biochemistry at Hasselt University under the supervision of Prof. Jerome Hendriks and Dr Tim Vanmierlo.

After obtaining her PhD in 2019, Suzan Wetzels started to work as a post-doc at the Department of Pathology. Her research, under the supervision of Prof. Erik Biessen, aims to investigate the functional differences in monocyte function in young and aged individuals using a high content analysis based approach.
