AGE-ing of the brain microvessels

PhD Position

CARIM is seeking a highly motivated graduated student with interest in vascular biology, diabetes and neuroscience to join a trans-disciplinary team led by Prof Casper Schalkwijk and Prof Robert van Oostenbrugge to work on “AGE-ing of the brain microvessels: the road to vascular cognitive impairment”. The main purpose of our research is to understand how advanced glycation endproducts (AGEs) are involved in the pathogenesis of cerebral small vessel disease. The project involves a broad spectrum of methodologies including animal behavioral testing, in vivo multiphoton imaging, molecular and biochemical assays, immunohistochemistry and confocal imaging.
